As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote CPCS Middle School is filled with a community of staff and teachers that truly cares about each and every student enrolled. I have never worked somewhere that goes so far above and beyond to make sure everyone succeeds. The small class sizes make it so that every student gets time and attention from the teachers every class. The teachers communicate and work together to come up with plans that work best for each student even in a global pandemic. The families in our community are our family. I can not rave about this school enough. Our students have opportunities to join multiple clubs, sports, and meet with inspirational leaders each week. I have been working here for two years and I plan to be here for many more. Close Quote

Open Quote I currently work as a 7th grade teacher as CPCS MS. This is a school like no other – it is a community of teachers, staff, parents, and community members that work together for the success of our young people. Our school is about community and educating the whole child. We have a robust after school program that offers students programs such as dance through the Mark Morris Dance Company, snowboarding during the week, and culinary arts with quarterly cooking competitions that capture the attention of the entire school! Once a family joins the CPCS family they become part of our community for life. Our graduates return to us when they have a day off from school to remind our middle school students to appreciate the small intentional community of CPCS MS. Close Quote

Open Quote I am honored to work at CPCS MS. This school is a happy place! Students are the focus of this school and the decisions made. This school is made up of a group of teachers and leaders that are about every student and their success. We meet students where they are and work together to support their learning. Throughout this pandemic, we have provided full days of academic instruction, as well as amazing after-school and elective opportunities for all students. If you are looking for a middle school in Brooklyn, look no further. This is a school that will support your child and you during very important years. Close Quote

Open Quote This school goes above and beyond for my children. My children are current learning remote and in-person via their hybrid method. CPCS has engaged and passionate teachers that take "teaching" to another level. I finally found a Charter School that is focused on education not just test scores. Close Quote

Open Quote I've worked at the Middle School for quite some time. It is a loving, small school where children are nurtured. The children and the staff are like family. We've had some recent changes, but they've all been changes for the better. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
