Rainbow Valley Elementary School

Summary:

Rainbow Valley Elementary School is a public school located in Buckeye, Arizona, serving grades PK-8 with a student population of 605. The school is part of the Liberty Elementary District, which is ranked 171 out of 288 districts in Arizona and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Rainbow Valley Elementary School faces significant challenges in academic performance, with consistently low proficiency rates and rankings compared to district and state averages. The school's performance on state assessments (AASA and AzSCI) is significantly below the district and state levels across all grade levels and subject areas, particularly in mathematics. For example, in 2022-2023, only 18% of 3rd graders were proficient in ELA, compared to 39% at the district level and 41% statewide. The school's performance is also consistently lower for all student subgroups compared to their peers at the district and state levels. However, the school's ranking for English language learners is in the top 15% of Arizona elementary schools, indicating a relative strength in supporting this student population.

The nearby schools within the Liberty Elementary District (such as Blue Horizons Elementary, Freedom Elementary, and Westar Elementary) generally outperform Rainbow Valley Elementary School on academic measures, with higher proficiency rates and better rankings. However, these nearby schools also have higher percentages of students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds. The data suggests that Rainbow Valley Elementary School may need to implement targeted interventions and strategies to address the academic needs of its student population.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school is a poor preforming school. They have a tendency to shuffle around needed areas in order to make themselves look good. My son has an IEP and they try to make changes to it w/o consulting us, the parents, they also dont make their teachers follow it to the letter and outside support is almost nill. My son is supposed to get help to recieve 70% or better in all classses, tests, ect.. but at the end of last year we still got a report card with 3 D's on it showing us that they don't care about the student as much as they say. We also have a 7 yr old daughter that attends she was not getting the needed attention in kindergarten but they still passed her onto the first grade last yr. As she was having difficulting with reading even with lots of coaching at home they still wanted to pass her on to the second grade stating that they would just have to work harder with her this yr. I don't think that is very acceptable behavior for a school. She shouldnt keep moving up grades just to have to catch up more and more each year. Avoid this school as much as possible. The principle will be the big part in the shuffling of your child thru the school system . How he got a principle job i will never know but as of this month we are moving them to a better school.. Arizona has no boundary laws for schools but if you are out of district you will have to transport your kids your self but well worth it in the long run if you want to avoid a bad education from this school. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
