Ivy Stockwell Elementary School

Summary:

Ivy Stockwell Elementary School is a public elementary school in Berthoud, Colorado, serving 402 students in grades K-5. The school is part of the Thompson School District R-2j, which is ranked 46 out of 116 school districts in the state.

Ivy Stockwell consistently outperforms the district and state averages in academic achievement, with proficiency rates in English Language Arts (52.7%), Math (52.2%), and 5th-grade Science (44.4%) that are significantly higher than the district and state. The school's performance is particularly strong in 3rd-grade English Language Arts (58.1%) and Math (60.8%). However, Ivy Stockwell has a lower percentage of racial/ethnic diversity compared to the surrounding area, and its male students outperform female students, which is an area the school may want to investigate further.

While Ivy Stockwell's overall academic performance is impressive, the school has a notable racial achievement gap, with its White students performing significantly better than its Hispanic students. This is an important issue that the school and district should work to address. Compared to nearby schools, Ivy Stockwell's academic performance is generally stronger, with the exception of Berthoud Elementary School, which also demonstrates high academic achievement.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Horrible experience with this school. The principal is the worst. She supports bullying and will do nothing to stop it. Zero parent communication. I found out my kid was beat up FROM MY KID. Adults at the school stopped it, talked to all the kids, then failed to notify any of the parents (the ones doing the beating and the ones getting beat up). If you love your kid and want them to grow up to respect others and be a good person, this is not the place you want to start out. Close Quote

Open Quote Staff is qualified, caring, & conscientious. The atmosphere is one of excellence and warmth. There was enough homework that kids got practice with personal responsibility. But our experience was that no busywork or drill was sent home; academic skills were taught during school hours. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
