Open Quote I DO NOT recommend anyone to attend Tampa Tech High School!!! The staff does not care about the students’ well being. Since the beginning of the school year my sister and her friends have been bullied in the bus and no one (including the bus driver) did anything about it. The bully makes other students get out of their seats, say awful words and hits them. Also, there are students sitting on the floor on the bus. My mom and I went to the school because we were fed up and wanted to solve this issue. Since my sister got bullied, her grades dropped. The staff in the main office were so rude! The office ladies were standing around gossiping and obviously did not care about anything. We asked to speak to the principal but they called the assistant principal and the office ladies didn’t even told us he was on his way, they just continue gossiping among themselves. The assistant principal told us he will have to suspend everyone including the victims( my sister being one of them). My mom said that was fine as long as the girl whose bullying everyone learns it’s not right to put her hands on others. “Everyone needs to know there’s consequences for their actions” my mom told him. Of course nothing was done! The assistant principal just gave her the bus transportation phone number. My mom asked for the school board phone number but the staff in student affairs acted as if they didn’t know. Luckily a lady gave us the school board number. My mom had to go to the extend of calling higher ups (even higher then the principal) to solve an issue of her daughter being bullied because NO ONE in Tampa Bay Technical High School cares about their students! Open Quote Tech is an awesome school with great academics, dedicated teachers, and generally nice kids. The food tastes terrible, but that's a given (it's a SCHOOL, after all.) I recommend attending it. There is a 93% graduation rate, which is very high for a Title I school. For any school, actually. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
