As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote This school is certainly well above average. This is a large school with large class sizes. Some students do much better with smaller class sizes. At Mililani HIgh, I only have a few issues with some of the teaching being inconsistent. I would really like to give it 5 stars in every other area but I do not feel I can fairly do this. Grading in some of the classes did not seem to be graded for the right reasons. For instance, in a history class, my daughter was graded due to how well she did a video project and not how much history she knew. There seemed to be a lot of homework and excessive out of school projects that took up a lot of time and didn't really help them learn the actual subject. At times it was very frustrating. Class offerings are good; the schedule is good; sports are fantastic; and parental involvement is excellent. Mililani HIgh teaches responsibility so that is often hard for a new incoming freshman if he/she isn't used to it already. There will suddenly be a lot of responsibility with quite a bit of freedom offered and it will be up to the student to make the right decisions. I only have experience with my daughter being at this school for her freshman year and then we had to relocate. However, I would have certainly felt happy to allow her to continue her high school education at Mililani HIgh School. I am confident that we could have made it all work out as teachers are seemingly always willing to work with you. Mililani schools work together and make it all worth while. I like that everyone is on the same page and they offer so many opportunities to be involved. They also offer a website that helps you and your student always know what assignments are due and what is missing. However, I did find that a couple of the teachers did not update it as they should have. I feel that any problem at this particular school is usually due to a individual teacher and their teaching style or lack thereof and not a problem with the school itself. The bottom line: It's important to keep the communication lines open with the staff and to be involved with the education of your high schooler and there will be far less issues. After all is said and done I would absolutely recommend Mililani HIgh School. I believe it is one of the best on the island of Oahu. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
