Eagle High School

Summary:

Eagle High School is a public high school located in Eagle, Idaho, serving grades 9-12 with a total enrollment of 1,802 students. It is part of the Joint School District No. 2, which is ranked 10th out of 77 districts in Idaho and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Eagle High School consistently performs above the state and district averages in standardized test scores, with 78.6% of students proficient or better in ISAT/English Language Arts, compared to 69% for the district and 53.3% for the state. The school also maintains high four-year graduation rates, ranging from 93.4% to 96.1% over the past five years, significantly higher than the state average. Additionally, Eagle High School has consistently ranked among the top schools in Idaho for the performance of specific student groups, such as ranking 5th out of 55 Idaho high schools for Hispanic students and 5th out of 66 for female students in the 2023-2024 school year.

While Eagle High School has a predominantly white student population, it also has a significant Hispanic and Asian student representation, which is higher than some of the nearby schools like Centennial High School and Owyhee High School. However, the nearby Meridian Technical Charter High School and Meridian Medical Arts Charter school have even higher academic performance and graduation rates. The low percentage of free and reduced-price lunch recipients (4.88% in 2022-2023) at Eagle High School suggests that the school may not be serving a socioeconomically diverse student population, which could raise equity concerns.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote The atmosphere is great, at football games we have almost full attendance and we all have fun. The students and the staff are all very supportive of our school. The teachers, in my opinion, are all top notch teachers. Our math teachers are especially good. All in all i really enjoy going to Eagle High School. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
