The school has also seen a decline in its four-year graduation rate, from 88.3% in 2021-2022 to 78.4% in 2023-2024, and an increase in its dropout rate from 2.3% in 2020-2021 to 4.0% in 2023-2024. However, some schools in the area, like Noble St Charter-Pritzker Col Prep, demonstrate higher academic achievement, graduation rates, and lower chronic absenteeism, suggesting that effective educational practices can be implemented even in similar socioeconomic contexts.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote North Grand High School is a hidden gem. I am honored to be working with the most dedicated, compassionate and hard-working teachers I've ever been privileged to know. The Principal, Ms. Feltes, provides outstanding motivation for students, parents, and teachers alike. The administrative team sets the tone for the rest of the school by greeting every student, teacher, and staff member as they walk in the building. Parents of North Grand High School are encouraged to be involved in the lives of their children through-out their children's high school experience. The counselors are brilliant, genuine and caring, as are the teachers. The seminar department is totally dedicated to not only getting students into college, but seeing them through to college graduation via their outstanding I-Mentor program. Their culinary, engineering and medical programs teach the whole child while walking them through the key skills necessary as a foundation in each of these disciplines. The technology at North Grand is on the cutting edge. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
