V I T Senior High School

Summary:

V I T Senior High School is a public high school located in Table Grove, Illinois, serving grades 9-12 with a total enrollment of 92 students. The school is part of the V I T CUSD 2 district, which is ranked 679 out of 813 districts in Illinois and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

V I T Senior High School has seen a decline in its statewide ranking over the years, dropping from a high of 279 out of 670 Illinois high schools in 2013-2014 (with a 3-star rating) to its current ranking of 333 out of 697 high schools (with a 3-star rating) in 2023-2024. The school's performance varies significantly across different student groups, with male students performing better than female students, and white students outperforming low socioeconomic status students. The school has also experienced fluctuations in its four-year graduation rate and a significant increase in chronic absenteeism, which is an area of concern. Academically, V I T Senior High School's proficiency rates in SAT Mathematics and SAT English Language Arts are generally below the state averages, although the school's performance in science assessments has been stronger.

When compared to nearby high schools, such as Macomb Senior High School, V I T Senior High School generally underperforms. Macomb Senior High School has consistently ranked higher and has higher proficiency rates in both Mathematics and English Language Arts. While V I T Senior High School has seen increased per-student spending and a low student-teacher ratio, these factors do not appear to have significantly improved the school's overall performance. The school's leadership and the V I T CUSD 2 district should closely examine the root causes of these issues and develop targeted strategies to address them, with the goal of improving the educational outcomes for all students.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote The teachers are outgoing in what they do to help every student. The class rooms are small and teachers use that to their advantage by helping students who are struggling. The principal makes sure everything goes smoothly and makes sure every child comes to school, she also has days where the whole Jr. high combines with the high school and has older classes intermingle with younger ones helping them out, making activities, and just having fun. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
