Summary:

Ubly Community JrSr High School is a public high school serving grades 6-12 in the small town of Ubly, Michigan, with a student population of 317. This high-performing school consistently outshines nearby schools in key metrics like graduation rates, dropout rates, and test scores, particularly in English Language Arts and Mathematics.

Ubly Community JrSr High School stands out for its predominantly white student population (98.74%), which is significantly higher than the racial diversity seen in nearby schools. This suggests the school has effective strategies for supporting students from diverse backgrounds.

When compared to nearby high schools, such as Harbor Beach Community High School, Deckerville Community High School, and Laker High School, Ubly Community JrSr High School consistently outperforms them in graduation rates, dropout rates, and test scores. This high-quality education is provided by the Harbor Beach Community Schools, Deckerville Community School District, and Elkton-Pigeon-Bay Port Laker Schools, respectively. However, the school's racial homogeneity and fluctuating chronic absenteeism rates are areas that could be further explored to promote inclusivity and consistent student engagement.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Ubly High School is a great school, and I received a superior education there. I felt fully prepared for college and never had to take any remedial classwork. The teachers were great and always willing to go the extra mile when needed. The school was a great size with there being enough kids to be able to choose your friends, but not so many that you didn't know everyone. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
