As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Having been a parent with a student at Cox Mill High School for three years, I can honestly say I've been quite impressed. The professionalism of the majority of teachers and staff is excellent. Our older son attended high school in another southern state and I see a marked difference overall in comparison. The previous reviewer mentioned the use of drugs, they are everywhere and if that is what you're drawn to then you would have no problem finding it anywhere, even in high schools. Is Cox Mill a perfect school?...of course not...no school is. In my experience Cox Mill does an excellent job of welcoming parents to get involved and the band program is outstanding. I've also noticed that the students, in general, are very inclusive and supportive of each other. This is a rare and special environment that I am happy to have my student experience. Close Quote

Open Quote the reason i gave this school such a poor rating is because first the lunches there are horrible!for 2.50 you get a scoop of macaroni and a chocolate milk! 2nd would have to be the major drug problem among students (especially athletts)that the staff has made no effort what so ever in correcting. Also in order to get to class you need to literally shove your way through the horribly crowded hallways. I have never seen such a poorly thought out school in all my years of education. Please for future parents thinking about sending your kids here, DO NOT! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
