As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Im very annoyed with this school and the district. Registered my son for kindergarten. On the 1st day of school i was told he had to go to Pinon hills elementary due to only 2 kindergarten classes and there was
66 kindergarten students instead of 60. I explained my situation to the principal but she didnt care. My son has a sibling in jacks valley. They dont care about about spilting them up. I called the school district and education services called me and pretty much told me my son had to go to Pinon hills for school or stay home. According to this "this director" (# he called me from775782-7179)kindergarten isnt mandatory in Douglas. So if kindergarten isnt a mandatory why did mrs gilmartin hold my daughter back in Kindergarten school? Was kindergarten important 10 yrs ago. And its not important now??? Does this principle know wth shes doing?? Close Quote

Open Quote On the surface this school appears ok for a public school, however we discovered that no real direction exists and the kids that are discipline problems basically run the show while teachers and administration have their hands tied and or can't quite muster up the courage to set any real discipline parameters. JVES Principal lacked character and was not trustworthy in our direct experience so we removed our student mid school year and couldn't be more relieved and happy. Close Quote

Open Quote I have had 2 children attend this school and it is horrible. They say they are receiving so much funding for new materials and fancy things like ipads in all the classes, but that doesn't do anything for how horrible the rest of the school is. Yes, some staff members are fairly nice, but as a whole most teachers and or staff, I would not describe as friendly.
The worst part, is not only did a teacher in my daughter's first grade class, refuse to let a little boy use the bathroom, that he actually was forced to poop in his pants! The mother of the boy was so outraged she removed him from the school immediately.
The level of bullying at just a first grade level is awful. My daughter was having lunch with an older "buddy", in some strange idea they had for lunch, in which the "older buddy", hit her and ate part of her lunch! I was outraged.
This school may boast funding, but they lack far more in every other area. The teachers themselves say they have way too much information to teach the kids, which may be part of the "No Child Left Behind" program, but coupled with how awful the rest of this school is operating, I would advise anyone to find any other way to put their child in another school. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
