As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote New Rochelle High School is unlike the schools in neighboring towns. We have beautiful diversity and inclusion and offer a BREADTH of AP and electives, more than any other in the STATE. We have a ROBUST arts program, with an arts high school within our high school. Students who participate in PAVE get to pick the art concentration of their choosing--visual, theatre, performance, orchestra, etc and study that concentration for their 4 yrs. They graduate with a regular diploma AND a PAVE diploma. We also have an incredible Science Research program and a Capstone English program. We have an accredited Arts Museum, a planetarium, two auditoriums one of which is a blackbox theatre. Yes we have a large student body, that is why our students head off to college PREPARED and ready to navigate many social and academic circles. They are not in a bubble for 4 of their most formative years. Our school is unmatched. Close Quote

Open Quote I graduated from there in 2007 and as time goes by the neighborhood as well as the kids in school get worse. There was many gangs and some threats to the school. However, the teachers are great and very dedicated. I would not want my child to go there. Close Quote

Open Quote I attended New Rochelle public schools more than 30 years ago and my daughter attended them very recently. The teachers were dedicated and responsive. The after school activities plentiful, the sports programs well run.

She received a first-rate education in a diverse community and is now attending an Ivy League college. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
