Noble Academy-Cleveland

Summary:

Noble Academy-Cleveland is a public charter elementary school serving 359 students in grades K-8 in Euclid, Ohio. The school has a predominantly African American student population (90.53%) and consistently ranks in the bottom quarter of Ohio elementary schools.

Noble Academy-Cleveland faces significant challenges, including high chronic absenteeism rates (rising from 5.1% to 40.9% in recent years) and low academic performance, with proficiency rates well below state averages across all grade levels and subject areas. For example, in 5th-grade Science, only 26.5% of students were proficient, compared to the state average of 64%. The school serves a high percentage of students from low-socioeconomic backgrounds, with 73.54% qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch. Interestingly, the nearby Lakeshore Intergenerational School has a similar student racial makeup but appears to have slightly better academic performance and a lower chronic absenteeism rate.

While the overall performance at Noble Academy-Cleveland is low, the data shows that African American students at the school perform relatively better compared to their peers at other Ohio elementary schools, ranking 243 out of 603 for this subgroup in 2023-2024. However, the school's performance has declined over the years, with its statewide ranking dropping from 1065 out of 1684 Ohio elementary schools in 2014-2015 to 1168 out of 1577 in 2023-2024, indicating a need for comprehensive interventions and strategies to improve student outcomes and close the achievement gap.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I had great things to say about this school up until this school year there was an incident that involved my child being bullied from three girls that attended school with her last year. I made several complaints and was informed that the situation would be handled. Although it was never handled because the harassing continued until the end of the year. So here we are a second year and the same three girls along with a new girl (4 girls) have been constantly bullying my daughter. I am so upset because the school has done nothing, the only thing they have done was prepare my child for all the tests that she taken, so she could get all As. Just this week my husband arrived at the school prepared to speak with the Dean to make sure we were all on the same page from the meeting I had just had with her some time last week, as he parked he noticed our daughter was been surrounded and pretty much a jumping situation was beginning to take place he saw fists go back and forth and he pretty much ran over to defuse the situation, while the teacher who had been out watching the kids for recess did nothing. My husband stated the teacher was standing right by the altercation. What's wrong with this situation!!!! Any how to make a long story quick, I was notified and left work to go straight up there to see what the problem was since I already had a meeting with the dean prior to a week ago. I am not happy at all, the administrator of the school basically stated he had been unaware of the problems and had not heard of anything such last year and I reported it, number one they have a communication problem right there, number two he was so rude to me and my family as if though he did not care. How can a school with so many great remarks fail in the discipline area. I have filed a police report and have contacted several lawyers the next step is to file a complaint with the school board and go from there. This is world news with the bullying, I thought the administrator would have handled this situation much differently seeing they are ranked so high. Hopefully this will prepare them for the future when something like this occurs again. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
