As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Coming from a student who has attended many schools, but stayed with this one.

This is a very hands on school with a lot of emphasis on art, nature (with gardening classes, "nature studies" and more), and community. Small classes (25 or less students per class) and teachers that continue with the same students ear year, from 1st to 8th grade, make for a comfortable familiar environment.

As of 2015, 8th grade classes are:

Main Lesson (usually sciences or history, all grades have this, split into blocks that rotate every 2-4 weeks)
Math
English Language Arts
Spanish
Gardening
P.E.
Music
Eurythmy
Handwork
Woodshop

Downsides (in my opinion):

No drama classes, although most grades do at lest one play/skit in Main Lesson to perform at some time during the year.

No electives: all classes are required, which makes some, like Music where group participation is required, difficult if not everyone wants to be there.

Sometimes not enough Science is taught, without a class dedicated to just Science, same with History.

Overall however, I like woodland, and having attended many schools, I can without doubt that it is better than a LOT of other choices out there. One last thing: if you or your child has difficulty socialising with their peers, this is a very good school IF they attend EVERY DAY. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
