Warren Area Elementary Center

Summary:

Warren Area Elementary Center is a public elementary school serving 697 students in grades K-4 in the Warren County School District in Pennsylvania. Despite the district's investment in the school, Warren Area Elementary Center has consistently underperformed compared to state and district averages, ranking in the bottom half of Pennsylvania elementary schools.

The school's academic performance is a significant concern, with only 30.8% of students proficient or better in PSSA Math and 25.6% proficient or better in PSSA English Language Arts, compared to state averages of 40.4% and 53%, respectively. As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote Warren Area El seems to be far less concerned about being educators as they are being an extension of the Warren Children and Youth social services agency. Despite being below the 50 percentile in every subject for schools in PA, the teachers very rarely send home homework or educational materials. They only send home endless fundraising requests and distribute non-education related flyers (like foster care advertisements for Warren Children & Youth). When I ask my third grader what he is learning in school, the majority of the time the answer is units that he was learning in 1-2 grade or even kindergarten. Before moving to this area, my child attended a public elementary school in a very low-income diverse neighborhood, and the quality was surprisingly far superior! If you value the quality of your child's actual academic education, I would advise finding a better school. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
