As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote The level of support for non-qualifying (for IEP services) struggling students is non-existent. It is pathetic there is no differentiation or support offered in the regular education classroom. No doubt in my mind that is the reason for the students' struggles and awful test scores. Administration is constantly changing and is very weak. There are teachers who do not do their jobs, do not belong in any school, and should be relieved of their positions. Teachers who are spending instructional time talking with colleagues in the hallways, teachers who tell struggling students to read the book for help, and those who are just collecting a pay check (one whom, on a regular basis, sits on the floor and eats from a jar of peanut butter in the back of the classroom during instruction, which has been going on since my 21 year old was at Crossroads, and is still being witnessed by my current 8th grader) need to be fired! The administration was made aware of this back when the 21 year old was an 8th grader and it has been reported again and nothing is ever done. My 8th grade child has struggled at West Shore School District since 4th grade. I have repeatedly asked for support only to be told she was low, but not low enough for help. She is currently below basic in reading and math on her PSSA tests and she struggles on a daily basis. With the amount of money the district receives from tax dollars, this district is poorly managed and compared to districts with similar tax income, we are ranked much lower in academic achievement. Money is not the issue for such poor academic achievement, management and lack of supervision and accountability of teachers would be a good place to start to clean up this train-wreck of a public school district. About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
