Sst Spring

Summary:

Sst Spring is a public charter elementary school serving grades PK-8 in Spring, TX, part of the Spring Independent School District. While the school has seen some demographic shifts, its overall academic performance has declined in recent years, ranking below average compared to other Texas elementary schools.

Sst Spring's statewide ranking has dropped from 2089 out of 4647 Texas elementary schools in 2022-2023 to 2598 out of 4675 in 2023-2024, earning it a 2-star rating. The school's STAAR test scores, particularly in mathematics, lag behind state and district averages. For example, only 30.1% of 3rd graders were proficient in STAAR Mathematics, compared to 45.45% for the Klein Independent School District and 40.86% statewide. However, Sst Spring has maintained an impressive 0% dropout rate over the past two years.

Compared to nearby Kreinhop Elementary and Haude Elementary, both in the Klein ISD district, Sst Spring generally underperforms on STAAR scores and statewide rankings. This may be due in part to Sst Spring's higher percentage of free and reduced-price lunch recipients (65.59%), suggesting it serves a more economically disadvantaged population than nearby schools.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I wouldn’t even know where to begin in my review. The parents who actually attend, they know better. There is little discussion online as the school does its best to monitor and remove feedback. They go to such great lengths that they block former parents and delete negative ratings. The true ranking for the school are incredibly poor. They do receive awards for diversity but their state rankings in every other category are some of the worst in the state. These schools are disorganized, poorly managed, safety is major concern, and the brand have a long history of questionable financial misconduct. They were previously called harmony schools but continue to change their name. Close Quote

Open Quote Another fake charter school. The only thing that matters is STAAR testing. My kid started cussing and fighting more. They treat the kids like prisoners. Racism is a major issue. Some teachers are wonderful but administration is lacking. Staff is rude and out of touch. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
