Clements High School

Summary:

Clements High School is a public high school located in Sugar Land, Texas, serving grades 9-12 with a total enrollment of 2,560 students. The school is part of the Fort Bend Independent School District, which is ranked 356 out of 968 districts in Texas and has a 3-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Clements High School consistently outperforms the district and state averages on STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) exams, with proficiency rates ranging from 65.55% in Algebra I to 89.67% in U.S. History. The school's four-year graduation rate has remained above 96% for the past several years, well above the state average. Clements High School's student subgroups, including female, male, Asian, African American, Hispanic, and multi-racial students, consistently rank among the top high schools in Texas for their respective categories. The school's performance for English Language Learners and Special Education students is also noteworthy, with these subgroups ranking in the top 170 and 159 high schools in Texas, respectively.

While Clements High School's overall academic performance is exceptional, its ranking for the Gifted and Talented student subgroup is relatively lower, placing in the top 369 high schools in Texas for the 2022-2023 school year. Additionally, the school's performance for its At-Risk student subgroup has fluctuated, ranking in the top 121 high schools in 2021-2022 but dropping to the top 425 in 2020-2021. This suggests that the school may need to focus on providing additional support and resources to ensure the academic success of its most advanced and at-risk students. Nearby schools, such as Harmony School Of Innovation-Sugar Land, have also demonstrated strong academic performance, with proficiency rates exceeding those of Clements High School in several subject areas.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote I'm going to go ahead and say it: Clements is very tough, especially if you are enrolled in all honors and AP classes. The coursework is demanding, and you will probably encounter multiple tests/quizzes per day (so most of the homework I find is studying). You really have to be on top of things and very organized.

However, it really does prepare you well for college applications. Every year we send plenty of students to top universities (the Ivies, Seven Sisters, etc.). Two years ago, we had 8 students go to Rice, 3 to Stanford, 2 or 3 to MIT, 2 to Harvard, 1 to Brown, several to UChicago/Northwestern/Georgetown/USC, and several more (Berkeley, Princeton, Yale, etc.). Last year, we had roughly the same amount of people (although I think more people went to MIT and Rice that year). As long as you work hard and get into the top 5-6-7%, you will definitely go to a good university.

On the other hand, the counselors are pretty bad. They don't know as much about the colleges as you wish, so most of it will have to be done on your own. Since they have so many kids, it's hard for them to get to know you personally. Close Quote

Open Quote Clements High School is an excellent school because of the academic drive so many of the students attending have. It is an extremely competitive school because it needs to be. Every student pushes another to do achieve higher, better grades or to break athletic records or club activities, whatever. All I can say is, I'm proud to be a Ranger. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
