Hart Independent School District (Isd)

Summary:

Hart Independent School District (ISD) is an alternative public school located in Hart, Texas that serves grades PK-12, with a total enrollment of 207 students as of the 2022-2023 school year. The student population is predominantly Hispanic, with 92.75% Hispanic, 6.76% White, and 0.48% two or more races.

Despite facing significant challenges, including a very high percentage of economically disadvantaged students (ranging from 82.08% to 86.26% over the past three school years) and relatively low spending per student (between $12,390 and $14,296), Hart ISD has maintained an impressive 100% four-year graduation rate for the past two school years, significantly outperforming the state average. However, the district has also experienced relatively high dropout rates in recent years, ranging from 1.0% to 3.4%, which is an area that requires close monitoring and intervention. In contrast, Nazareth School, located approximately 11 miles away, serves a significantly different student population with a majority White student body and a much lower percentage of economically disadvantaged students, and consistently outperforms Hart ISD on state assessments.

While Hart ISD's academic performance, as measured by STAAR assessments, appears to be inconsistent across grade levels and subject areas, with some grades and subjects showing relatively strong proficiency rates and others struggling significantly, the district's exceptional graduation rates demonstrate its ability to support students in successfully completing their education. By addressing the academic performance gaps, dropout rates, and resource constraints, Hart ISD has the potential to improve overall student outcomes and better serve its community.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
