Pacific Middle School

Summary:

Pacific Middle School is a public middle school located in Vancouver, Washington, serving 864 students in grades 6-8. It is part of the Evergreen School District, which is ranked 185 out of 247 districts in the state and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

While Pacific Middle School has a more diverse student population compared to nearby schools, with higher percentages of Hispanic (19.1%) and Asian (6.83%) students, its academic performance is generally lower than state averages and other schools in the district. The school's proficiency rates in English Language Arts (40.72%) and Math (29.38%) for the 2023-2024 school year were below the state averages of 52.63% and 41.68%, respectively. Pacific Middle School has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Washington middle schools, with a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger, lower than the nearby Shahala Middle School, which has a 3-star rating.

The school's performance varies significantly across different student subgroups, with Asian and African American students performing relatively well compared to their peers in the state, while the school struggles with the performance of White, Hispanic, and Special Education students. Additionally, the school's spending per student has fluctuated over the years, ranging from $7,677 in 2019-2020 to $14,915 in 2021-2022, which is higher than the state average. These factors, along with the school's declining academic performance and socioeconomic challenges, suggest that the Evergreen School District and the school's leadership may need to implement targeted interventions and allocate additional resources to support student success at Pacific Middle School.

As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote 12000 per student of your tax money so they can segregate children into vaxed and unvaxxed. Which means hugs or no hugs. The Vax is not fda approved. Coercion to take an experimental drug is against the law and violates the Nuremberg code. Parents of non vaxxed students should sue this place royal. Close Quote

Open Quote You have a teacher saying they will only hug the Covid-19 vaccinated students because the unvaccinated are a risk to others’ health. Shame on you for allowing this type of medical discrimination. Being unvaccinated for Covid is a medical condition. It’s called body autonomy. I’ve never been more ashamed to live in the state of WA. Open Quote You support segregation? Willing support segregating vaccinated and unvaccinated children? Allowing your teachers to shame the unvaccinated children by denying them human touch? You do remember that you are funded by the taxpayers money? You are willingly violating federal and state law. I had to give you a one star rating so that I could leave a rating. Stop this brownshirt behavior. Close Quote

Open Quote We been living in this neighborhood for 15 years we know many of our neighbor's kids went there and they all seem to have good says about the school as a whole. Many smart kids came out of Pacific. The school offers many music programs, excel courses for those who are more advance, many clubs and sports activities. My son goes there now and he really enjoys it. He said he is learning a lot from all his teachers. He gets good amount of homeworks n projects to keep his brain stimulate it. Teachers really try to prepare these kids for high school. They teach my son to take initiation if he doesn't understand any subject, he needs to go to his teachers and ask for help. His math teacher offers after school tutors on Tuesday for those who needs extra help. As far as bullying, my son has not experience it, but I'm sure the school would take the subject of bullying seriously. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
