As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote As a former teacher I understand that turning around a chronically low-performing school is a challenge but it must come from the top. It also needs to have committed teachers who are sincerely interested in positive the positive outcome of every student that enters their classroom but if they're more worried about lack of leadership, lack of school guidance counselors ( the school has TWO counselors. One for 7th and one for 8th grade) that are working 70 hours or more per/week who are trying to address a myriad of issues that a classroom teacher doesn't have the time, (nor was trained at a masters level) or experience to deal with things like bullying. It runs rampant at this school. I have listened at public forums where parents are literally crying out for help for their children only to come back to the next meeting and tell the administrators that nothing has changed and that their children are left to defend themselves but don't let them touch the student that punched him or he will get suspended too for fighting. This is wrong at so many levels it's hard to believe that in 2021 that this behavior exist!
CHANGES NEED TO TAKE PLACE IMMEDIATELY AND IF THAT MEANS THAT STATES TAKE OVER THEN SO BE IT...NO MATTER HOW UNPOPULAR IT IS SOMETHING NEEDS TO TAKE PLACE BEFORE ONE MORE CHILD IS BULLIED, LEFT BEHIND, OR COMMITS SUICIDE.
This school is broken and it has been for a very long time. Being ranked as one of the lowest performing schools along with Johnson middle school who is ranked 77 out of 78th in the entire state of Wyoming is a travesty. There is no excuse for these low rankings. Wyoming spends over $17,000 per/student, but ask your school board council members how much of this money is spent at the top of the pyramid and trickles down to the school staff and students.
Changes must take place if improvements are going to happen. All teachers, including tenured and untenured teachers (new teachers who face a three year probationary period). Need to be held accountable for their actions and student outcomes. In what other profession do you get a "JOB FOR LIFE?"
On the National Council on Teacher Quality website (nctq.org). Here's what they have to say about Wyomings policies..."Wyoming does not connect tenure decisions to evidence of teacher effectiveness". They are automatically granted tenure after three years.

Open Quote While the teachers and counselors at this school are good (I would rate them a 4). The upper management is NOT! My daughter was being bullied and when she went to tell the upper management (including the school officer) they continued to bully her in the office! One vp even stated to me that if the bullying isn't physical they won't do anything about. Perhaps they should read their mission statement. Here's the thing good school if you are 100% sure your child is mediocre and nothing or noone is going to interfere with their life, otherwise good luck! Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
